April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is among the few women beach volleyball athletes to have done so. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. Ross hopes to win an Olympic first gold medal but she is also aiming to earn even more. In fact, at 39, this could be her last chance to do so. But she's convinced that winning the gold medal is in reach. If we perform at our very top or perform well, I think we'll win the gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. So I'm going to take the chance also. Ross was born August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. Ross played in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and track in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors in her time as a college athlete. She was clearly the best in the game of indoor volleyball. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and outside hitting volleyball player during her high-school career. Thanks to her hard work she was named the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. In 2000, she won an Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. While Ross Klineman and Ross are a couple since 2017, the former was already a big-time athlete on the beach long before their pairing. It's true that she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one of them was a renowned volleyball player. For six years from 2007 to 2013 she teamed alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was an ace in the world circuit, winning an international title in 2009. The duo would go into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. The team won bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a player for the USC Trojans in college after graduating from high school. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was remarkable. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. In her sophomore season, she experienced a terrible personal tragedy, but managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. In her final two seasons with the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. Her individual achievements have cemented her place as a legendary volleyball player. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross wasn't able to see her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. She is devoted to her late parent. Margie at the beach and in daily life, continues to inspire her.
